What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Imagine the mental strategy of a chess game with an incredible workout. Just walking through the door for the first time is the hardest part for most people. Our main goal is for students to get a great workout, learn some awesome Jiu Jitsu and have a lot of fun. It allows you to get rid of daily stress in a positive way. Jiu Jitsu seems to direct people to make life changes, from dietary habits to exercising regularly. “This is not only a martial art, but it is a life style.” Our lineage starts with instructor John being under eight-time world champion Robson Moura, who is in Tampa.
A little history of Jiu Jitsu!
Jiu Jitsu is the weaponless art that Samurai practiced. They used it if they lost their weapons because strikes wouldn’t affect their opponents’ body armor. It consists of throws, joint locks and chokes. The art has changed since then and has been placed into two primary categories: sport and combative. At No Limits academy we believe that both are necessary and complement each other. We start each student out with the self-protection combative course and upon completion of that program the student can attend the sport classes.
